Working Sundays

I've asked to work all sundays all autumn but today I realised that I'm not sure that I wanna do that...

I asked to do it for three reasons.... 1. I always work with nice people. 2. I earn 35% more on Sundays. 3. I didn't mind.

But this morning I did mind! I didn't want to go to work when I actually could have stayed in Veneto the whole weekend, or gone away with a friend to one of the lakes. But no no, I had to work. Sigh. Many of my friends works saturdays (like everyone in the fashion industy) but only colleague friends works Sundays the rest are off and always do funny things together.

Snyft.

Time to study, only today and tomorrow left then I'm free. Even if I don't think I will pass the bloody political exam :(

New job contract signed!

Now it's (quite) sure! I will stay in Italy (atleast) until the end of the year. Now I just signed a new contract with Givenchy until the end of the year. I hope it will be in Rinascente in piazza duomo Milan but I've been told that they could start sending me around to other stores too working as a beauty therapist or as a promoter. Donno what it really means but it sounds advanced....

Good evening at work

Tonight I worked only four hours, which is perfect. If I work more than six hours I always get such pain in my feet (as I always have to be standing up) but four hours like tonight is great.

Today when I got there I got so upset... I got back from my holiday and the first thing I had to hear is negative critics saying I was coming back to work with black skin (tanned) and blond hair (slightly lighter than earlier)... In the beauty world neither the skin or the hair should get in touch with the sun or salty water but I didn't really follow those rules, hehe.

However, after the bad start of my working shift everything just got better and better. I worked with a make up artist (a gay guy) who's traveling around Italy for Givenchy and we had soo much fun together. When he left at 8pm I started selling instead and I more than hit the target of the day, alone! So tomorrow my manager will get very happy!

After work, I finished at 22, I walked home fastly to talk with my mum on skype for 1,5 hour. We don't talk very often so when we talk it gets quite long.

Now I gonna unpack my bag and then go to bed. I am really really tired. The pics I promised will be posted tomorrow morning.

Baci e buona notte!

A day at the LVMH head office

The course that my manager said would be for just an hour or two ended up lasting all day. The Guvenchy head office was actually LVMH head office with Givenchy, Dior, Acqua di Parma, Guerlain and Kenzo all nest to eachother, sucj nice office. Would be my dream to work there!

The course was nice. Even if I already been working there and already knew most of the products I learned lots new about skin/face treatment and we also had a quick make up course.

For lunch I went with all the girls working for Givenchy to a little family trattoria next to the office having a very nice lunch.

Before leaving they told me I could choose some products so I got my favourite perfume, a face cream, face masks and the make up I like most plus some t shirts and jewels. I love presents and I am so happy :-)

Tonight I'm going to fancy party in a big villa somewhere with Valentina so now I need to get ready...

I work as a beauty consultant for Louis Vuitton!

Italians love talking about themselves!

...and they are very good at making everything sound exceptionally good... it sounds like they are all top managers for the best companies earning lots of money more and less. But in reality most of them just have normal jobs just that they are so good at promoting themselves, pushing the best sides of themselves and their professional occupation.

I remember when Johanna and I met Nicola in London the first time, he told us he was a marketing manager working for Louis Vuitton. Johanna who's very into the fashion industry was overly impressed! Later on I found out that he's actually works as a marketing associate for Acqua di Parma (who's owned by Louis Vuitton). Still a very good job but the name Louis Vuitton obviously impress the girls more ;-)

Unfortunately I'm not that good at it. When people ask me what I do I just say I work as a shop assistant at Rinascente but when asking my colleague the answer is that she works as a make up artist for Givenchy (we do the same job).

Today I had a look at my contract and my job title is beauty consultant / assistente di vendita and my employer is Louis Vuitton Italia - Givenchy is part of the Louis Vuitton group, LVMH. So that's what I should say to promote myself a little bit more... haha.

work or vacation?

Dilemma... I've been offered to stay with Givenchy at Rinascente until the end of the year. I can't understand why they like me so much but I guess I just fits perfectly into the rinascente world!?

As the unemployment in Italy is extremly high and most of my international friends that have been looking for job for months are still umemployed, I should be jumping up and down of happiness getting this offer. I got a job after only 3 week in Italy and now they are so satisfied having me there that they wanna keep me. Of course I'm pleased bur the problem is that if I accept I won't get any holidays at all. I will be working only 30 hours a week but all Sundays (which is good as they pay more on Sundays) but hey, not even a single weekend of holiday!?
If they sign me for 6 months until the end of the year they can't break the contract (Italian working laws) but I can leave with one month notice... I think...!? So I guess I have to choise, I have to accept.

My croatian sailing holiday dreams with my friends will now be crossed :(

Rinascente Party

Tonight we're having a kind of company party, bit it's kind of inofficial as it's just a few getting the invitations... You better be young, good looking and outgoing otherwise you won't get an invite. It's the two womanizer guys who's orginizing it, do I say more.... Haha. No comments!

Anyway, I never say no to parties so I bring along some friends and I gonna go! Just Cavalli, here I come.... In 7 hours, as I still have to work 6 mor hours, sigh :)

Who's the DJ?

All day yesterday and all morning today my lovely work plays the same 6 songs on repeat...

It's
- Celebration - Kool & the gang
- Empire state of mind - Jay Z
- Closer - Ne yo
- Fight for love - Cheryl Cole
- Fly high - Shaggy
- ...and another techno song screaming never be the same, donno who's singing.

Quite good songs but common, in such a fancy department store can't they afford to get some more CD's?? My head is going mental!

Job in June confirmed

* GIVENCHY *

Ok, now it's confirmed. I will stay and work for Givenchy at La Rinascente also in June! I can't believe it myself but they offered me full time for whole June which for me is great. The Givenchy will move to a more central positin within the Rinaschente and they will make some kind of promotion half the month and need three full time employees. However I was told they are taking me in because they like me as a person and because I'm doing well so far, not becuase of my backgroud (working in finance in London doesn't really make me a good make up artist beauty consultant...) and that the 'LVMH Italia' are doing interviews with people educated in the field. So if I'm not thinking of taking a course to become a make up artist I should look around for something else from July....

So now I know I will stay in Milan at least until end of July! I hope to be able to find a more secure job after the summer to be honest. For now I'm enjoying it but I need to make my whole life more stable going onwards. But like Luca said last week, this is our last year of being "kids" it's after 30 we need to grow up and create the future we want. I am very happy for all my experiences of living and working abroad and even if I'm neither married or having a great career I'm happy with the choises I've done so far. I kind of belive in faith, things happens for a reason and I hope things will turn out well for me one day. Until then I take Luca's words and keep having fun...! :)

Sunday @ Rinascente

Sunday and I'm working, sigh. But as always I'm enjoying it :)

Lunch break now, look what I got. A mixed sallad from the Rinascente employee restaurant. €3.50 and I can choose whatever I want inside. I got lettice, tomato, tuna, prawns, mashrooms, sweetcorn and mozzarella. Gnam gnam.

Today is a big day for the italian football and everyone are talking about it. On friday night, outside the club the guys were even fighting about it. Haha. Nowadays most people choose to support Inter as they have won many years in a row but ther are also people who don't that in these days gets really frustrated as Inter could win everything this year. Do I need to say what a mess it is.... The football has taken over the Italian world for a couple of weeks.

Job news

Good news! They just called me from Givenchy headoffice saying they were very satisfied with my job at La Rinascente (don't ask me how) and that they want to re-sign a contract with them for part time job also in May. I can't believe it! I asked my manager about it yesterday and she said she wants to keeo me but that the head office were saying no... Very strange. I don't believe it 100% until I have signed the contract. Fingers crossed! Would be really great!!

Good day at work

Today I had a really good day at work. We reached and exceeded our budget for the first time in these days. The budget have been very high as it has been the design fair and the management expected good results but we haven't really reached it a single day... Yesterday I felt so bad when I left and I was expecting my manager to totally tell me off today. She didn't but she strictly told me we (I) HAVE to sell more, and I did. Today I sold more than I've done in all these days together I think so I went home with a big smile on my face!

I can't decide if I like my job or not. I know I'm not the perfect shop assistent pushing people to buy lots and lots but I kind of like to be at work anyway. I like the contact with the customers and I loooove Rinaschente and all my collegues. It's a massive department store with lots of young girls, guys and gays working there and everyone are so friendly and helpful. I get to know new nice people every day. I must say I love it!

Now I gonna watch 'Italia's got talent' with Francesca. So fanny!

(sorry for always looking so ugly and strange in the pics I take at work but obviously I have to hind to take them and the light gets wired...)

Italian job interview

Today I had my first Italian interview... Jezez. I don't know the language and I didn't know anything about the brand I was applying for. Good start, not. Anyway, Thanks god I have a big interest in luxury creams and cosmetics so at least I had something to talk about....

I came there, I taked for a while with one of the managers about myself, my work experience, my language knowledge and my interest in cosmetics. Very very nice lady! And then she just said she wants me to start tomorrow straight after school, what! I was in chock!

So, I will work at Rinascente just opposite to the Duomo in central Milano. Its a big luxury department store with cosmetics, handbags, clothes etc. I will be workig for Givenchy cosmetics which is in a corner on the ground floor, quite bad location. Its just a small sales department and I will be working alone there!!! Jeeeeezez! I don't know if this job will fit me but it's just one way of finding out, to try!

Time to go home and study all the Givenchy products! Need to learn them all.

Tonight I was suppost to go partying at Just Cavalli or Hollywood with Gabrielle but obviously now I can't :( Instead I will meet him and and also Stefania just for a quick drink in town. Guess my life will have to change a bit the next weeks...
